    A potentially catastrophic incident was narrowly avoided at Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Virginia, on Thursday morning as two commercial airliners came dangerously close to colliding on the runway. The alarming event unfolded around 7:40 a.m. when a Southwest Airlines flight and a JetBlue Airways flight, identified as Southwest flight 2936 and JetBlue flight 1554 respectively, found themselves on a collision course while operating at the busy airport.

Dramatic audio recordings captured by bystanders and subsequently posted to YouTube captured the tense moments as air traffic controllers urgently shouted, “STOP! STOP!” in a bid to avert disaster.

    Miraculously, swift actions by the flight crews and air traffic controllers prevented any physical harm or significant disruption to airport operations. Following the heart-stopping incident, the FAA has pledged to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the near-miss event to identify any systemic issues and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
